The price of local government: City of Morrison

The City of Morrison budget was $19.62 million for its 2015 fiscal year, or $11,629.74 per household.

That's an increase of 232.6 percent from 2014, when the city spent $5.90 million, or $3,496.48 per household.

Morrison has 1,687 households and a population of 4,122.

Since 2001, the City of Morrison budget has grown by 361.7 percent, from $4.25 million. The city population has fallen 6.3 percent over the same period, from 4,400.

Salaries accounted for 6.4 percent of city spending in 2015. Morrison property taxpayers paid $1.25 million for 27 full-time employees and nine part-time employees.

In 2001, the city had 20 full-time employees and seven part-time employees, and spent $1.09 million.
