Illinois State Senator Andrew Chesney shared a message on Apr. 3 reflecting on the significance of Good Friday and the upcoming Easter weekend. Chesney said the day serves as an opportunity to consider the sacrifice of Jesus Christ and the enduring power of faith.
He highlighted that for many, Good Friday is a time to “reflect on the sacrifice of Jesus Christ and the depth of His love.” Chesney included several Bible verses in his message, including John 3:16: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
Chesney encouraged people to pause and remember, stating that Good Friday is a reminder “to recognize the strength that comes from putting our trust in something greater than ourselves.” As Easter approaches, he emphasized its themes of hope and renewal, quoting Matthew 28:6: “He is not here; He has risen, just as He said.”
He further shared words from 1 Peter 1:3 about living hope through resurrection. Chesney concluded his statement by wishing readers time for reflection, worship, and connection with loved ones during this period.
Chesney was elected as a Republican to represent Illinois’ 45th Senate District in 2023 after replacing former state senator Brian Stewart, according to official records.
The message comes at a time when many constituents observe religious traditions associated with Good Friday and Easter.
