FOIA Request to City of Dixon Regarding Unpaid Parking Violations on October 28, 2024.
As a media organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at NW Illinois News have sent a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the City of Dixon. The request specifically seeks information about all unpaid parking violations in the city.
The records requested include the names of offenders, their addresses, the amount due for each violation, the date of violation, and the total amount due. We believe that this information is crucial in holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.
As members of the media involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, access to such public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. Given our role in disseminating information, we have also requested a fee waiver as a media professional under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act.
