FOIA Request to City of East Dubuque Regarding Newly Registered Businesses on May 7, 2025.

As part of our commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, NW Illinois News has submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the City of East Dubuque. We are seeking access to records concerning businesses registered with the city over the past week. Specifically, we have requested information that includes the business name, business number, business type, business address, issued date, status, and registered agent name.

This request is made under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140, and we have asked for the records in electronic format. As members of the media dedicated to holding public institutions accountable and ensuring transparency for the public, we believe this information is crucial for fulfilling our professional responsibilities. Furthermore, given our role in disseminating information to the public, we have requested a fee waiver as media professionals.

We are affiliated with The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy, a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Missouri Corporation that supports news media companies and public advocacy groups in investigating state and federal governmental agencies. By leveraging Freedom of Information and Sunshine Laws, we aim to shed light on government actions and inform the American electorate. For more information about our coalition’s mission and activities, please visit [https://stopsecrecy.org/about/](https://stopsecrecy.org/about/).

We await a response from the City of East Dubuque regarding this request and will continue to keep our readers informed about developments in local governmental affairs.
