I passed legislation in 2022 to make August 1st the official Sweet Corn Appreciation Day in Illinois. This year marks the 4th annual celebration.

Sweet Corn Day is a celebration of community, connection, and the simple joy of sharing good food with the people we care about.

As the enthusiasm around this event continues to grow, I am even more excited for this year’s celebration! All are welcome. The event will feature bounce houses, face painting, and, of course, sweet corn.

The date, time, and location for the Fourth Annual Sweet Corn Day are as follows:

As someone who grew up in a family-owned business, I have special appreciation for fellow Illinoisans who make our state such an amazing place to live. It’s important for me to recognize and celebrate those local businesses and business owners throughout our community.

To do that, I have traveled throughout the 89th District in northwest Illinois to learn about a variety of small businesses, see their products firsthand, and listen to feedback from the people who work there.

I have enjoyed my visits to local shops, restaurants, and manufacturers—and I look forward to doing more! Many of these visits have been inspired by constituent recommendations.

As I continue to highlight local businesses throughout the year, I invite you to suggest local businesses that deserve recognition by using the nomination form below:

Check out one of my past visits to Beach’s Supper Club:

My office has a FREE museum pass available to area residents! The pass provides free admission to Chicago’s museums, zoos, gardens, planetarium, and aquarium.

Now that we are in the thick of summer, I encourage area families to take advantage of this great resource and the opportunity to see all the museums the city of Chicago has to offer!

Constituents may request to use this card to receive complimentary General Admission for the cardholder plus three guests. The institutions participating in this program are the following:

It is strongly recommended that families utilizing the card contact the museum they plan to visit to learn if pre-registration is required. With questions, contact the office at 815-291-8989.
