Whiteside County Airport Board member Stan Domack dismissed the rules that govern the body as “crap” during a meeting recently.
According to a report from the Edgar County Watchdogs, which had a representative at the meeting, the board voted at the meeting on an issue that was not on the agenda, calling it an emergency action.
The issue, regarding the airport’s septic system, would typically require a statutory procurement process, but if approved as an emergency can be awarded more directly to a local contractor.
The group posted a video of an exchange between a meeting attendee and Domack.
“So, you’ve known for two weeks, which is plenty of time to get it on the agenda and have it as an actual agenda item,” the attendee says. "Nobody moved on it, and now today you throw all the rules out the window to just vote on it like this as an emergency. If you’ve known two weeks, that’s not an emergency.”
After a few seconds of silence from the board, Domack responds.
“Let’s shut the airport down and let these people go home,” Domack says. “We’ll just shut it down and say that’s the end of it. Rules and regulations are a bunch of crap… .”
