The calls in Freeport included 89 fires - 39 structure fires, seven vehicle fires and 41 other fires. The fire department also responded to two calls for ruptures, explosions or overheating.
In all, the department saw $419,330 in fire loss - or about $4,712 per fire.
The department also received 243 false calls, including nine malicious calls and 234 other false calls.
The calls resulted in two civilian fire-related injuries.
The Freeport Firefighters' Pension Fund, which has 47 active employees and 64 retired or inactive employees, was $2,847,523 in debt as of April 2016, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $31,995 for every fire in 2016.
