Mike Stevenson has been tabbed as director of athletics and YMCA programs at the Sauk Valley YMCA, the Sterling–Rock Falls YMCA announced in a press release recently.
The Macomb resident brings an extensive resume to his new position, having coached and been an athletic administrator for more than 27 years at institutions including Western Illinois University in Macomb, Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana, and the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena.
Stevenson has been assistant athletic director at Western for five years, during which time he handled athletics facility management, athletic concessions and events management. He also spent five years as the school's director of athletic academic services.
He also led his school's track and field team to three conference titles and won five awards as conference coach of the year.
