Analysis: Freeport pays $2.54 for every $1 pensioners contribute to Freeport Firefighters Pension Fund

Taxpayers contributed 71.8 percent of the $999,646 the Freeport Firefighters Pension Fund brought in last year, or $2.54 for every $1 from pension members, according to a NW Illinois News analysis of the latest data reported to the Illinois Department of Insurance Pension Division.

In all, Freeport contributed $717,781 to the fund, which saw a $4,027 decrease in revenue over 2015. Members contributed $281,865, or 28.2 percent, in 2016.
