Report: Meridian spent $9,655 per student in 2016-17

Spending per pupil at Meridian Community Unit School District 223 is up 5 percent from five years ago, according to a NW Illinois News analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2016-17 report card shows the Ogle County school district spent $9,210 per pupil in 2012-13. It spent $9,655 in 2016-17.

The district saw its enrollment fall over the same period, from 1911 to 1698.

Meridian's spending in 2016-17 was 26 percent lower than the state average of $12,973.
