Report: Byron spent $17,862 per student in 2016-17

Spending per pupil at Byron Community Unit School District 226 is up 18 percent from five years ago, according to a NW Illinois News analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2016-17 report card shows the Ogle County school district spent $15,103 per pupil in 2012-13. It spent $17,862 in 2016-17.

The district saw its enrollment fall over the same period, from 1565 to 1504.

Byron's spending in 2016-17 was 38 percent higher than the state average of $12,973.
