Graduates earn 625 degrees, certificates from Highland Community College

About 28.8 percent of the 625 degrees and certificates handed out by the Highland Community College in 2016-17 were to students in Health Professions and Related Programs programs, making them the most popular programs that year, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The agency's National Center for Education Statistics shows the public institution in Freeport conferred 143 certificates and 37 associate's degrees in Health Professions and Related Programs programs.

But the single most popular program was for a certificate in Nursing Assistant/Aide and Patient Care Assistant/Aide. Data shows the school gave out 139 certificates in Nursing Assistant/Aide and Patient Care Assistant/Aide, followed by 95 associate's degrees in Biological and Physical Sciences and 81 associate's degrees in Liberal Arts and Sciences/Liberal Studies.

The college enrolled 1,857 students for 2016-17, all of whom were enrolled in undergraduate programs.
