Dakota Community Unit School District 201 students suspended 22 times in a single school year

Dakota Community Unit School District 201 reported 22 suspensions for 2016-17, according to the latest student discipline report by the Illinois State Board of Education.

According to the report, the district expelled or suspended 22 students during the year. That equates to 2.7 percent of the 807 students enrolled.

Of the 11 in-school suspensions, all were given to boys.

The district reported that most in-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes nine incidents. There were two incidents of violence without physical injury. For 10 incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.

Of the 11 out-of-school suspensions, all were given to boys.

The district reported that most out-of-school suspensions were given for violence without physical injury. The category includes seven incidents. There were four incidents of unspecified reasons. For eight incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.
