CITY OF DIXON: City to Recognize Heroes from Dixon School Shooting

City of Dixon issued the following announcement on Sept. 29.

The Dixon City Council will recognize eight local heroes for their bravery and courageous actions during the May 16, 2018 shooting incident at Dixon High School on Monday night. The award presentation will take place during the regularly scheduled City Council meeting at 5:30 p.m.

Award recipients will include Officer Mark Dallas, Sheriff John Simonton, Sergeant Mike Wolfley, Dixon High School Principal Dr. Mike Grady, Athletic Director Jared Shaner, Coach Andrew McKay, and Illinois Armory National Guard Staff Sergeant Kelly Bishop and Sergeant Blair Crum.

City Manager Danny Langloss said, “We are excited to present the Medal of Valor to Officer Dallas. His actions saved the lives of so many students and staff. We are very proud of him. What many do not know is that Officer Dallas is not the only person who displayed incredible bravery and heroism on this day. Monday night, we will share their stories and thank them for their leadership, bravery, and heroic actions.”
