City of Galena issued the following announcement on Jan. 29.
Due to the extreme cold, curbside garbage collection on Wednesday, January 30, and Thursday, January 31, is cancelled. The Wednesday and Thursday collections will resume next week on February 6 and 7, respectfully. Residents on the Wednesday and Thursday routes will be allowed to set out the equivalent of two 45-gallon containers of garbage (double the normal weekly allowance) on Wednesday and Thursday next week.
