Report: Byron spent $17,053 per student in 2017-18

Spending per pupil at Byron Community Unit School District 226 is up 5.6 percent from five years ago, according to a NW Illinois News analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2017-18 report card shows the Ogle County school district spent $16,152 per pupil in 2013-14. It spent $17,053 in 2017-18.

The district saw its enrollment fall over the same period, from 1551 to 1545.

Byron's spending in 2017-18 was 27.9 percent higher than the state average of $13,337.
