The price of local government in 2017: City of Fulton

The City of Fulton budget was $4.17 million for its 2017 fiscal year, or $1,966 per household.

That's an increase of 8.5 percent from 2016, when the city spent $3.84 million, or $1,811 per household.

Fulton has 2,122 households and a population of 3,360.

Since 2001, the City of Fulton budget has fallen by 62.3 percent, from $11.07 million. The city population has fallen 10.9 percent over the same period, from 3,770.

Salaries accounted for 26.2 percent of city spending in 2017. Fulton property taxpayers paid $1.09 million for 17 full-time employees and four part-time employees.

In 2001, the city had 17 full-time employees and 14 part-time employees, and spent $881,449.
