City of Sterling City Council met Sept. 23.

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

Mayor Charles L. “Skip” Lee called a special meeting of the Sterling City Council to order at 5:15 pm on Monday, September 23, 2019. Roll call. Present: Aldermen Retha Elston, Josh Johnson, Joe Martin, John Stauter, Christine Wilen, and Jim Wise. Absent: None.

Also present were City Manager Scott Shumard, Superintendent of Waste Water Treatment Scott Howard, Superintendent of Public Works Brad Schrader, Police Chief Tim Morgan, and City Clerk Marie Rombouts.

The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

Alderman Elston made a motion to accept and approve the low bid in the amount of $319,931.13 to Civil Constructors Inc. for the sanitary sewer force main, on the north side of Lynn Boulevard and east of 16th Avenue; seconded by Alderman Wise. Matt Hansen with Willett Hofmann & Associates explained the old main running into the farm field will be filled with concrete to prevent any further collapse. Development north of Lynn Boulevard was anticipated but never occurred. The main will run along 16th Avenue and be bored under Lynn Boulevard. Manager Shumard explained these funds were budgeted in the sewer fund. Voting: Ayes – Aldermen Elston, Johnson, Martin, Stauter, Wilen, and Wise. Nayes – None. Motion carried.

Meeting adjourned at 5:25 pm.
