City of Fulton Fiancee Committee met October 10.
Here is the minutes as provided by the committee:
Present were Mayor Ottens, Alderman King, Alderman Van Kampen, Chairman Nederhoff, Alderman Van Zuiden, City Administrator Boonstra, Chief Bartels, Officer Hamilton, Officer Neblung and Officer Simpson.
The meeting was called to order to consider a recommendation from the Public Safety Committee to hire a police officer to fill the vacancy created by Lt. Pridemore’s retirement. The total savings this budget year with the Pridemore retirement and some employees and their family members leaving the city’s insurance plan will be $59,730.
There is a certified officer in the hiring pool that could be up to speed and on the street in less than two weeks. With the hiring of this officer, there would still be realized savings to the city of $23,000 this budget year. The recommendation of the Finance Committee to the City Council is to hire the replacement officer.
The Public Safety Committee has further recommendations on adding sergeants to the Police Department staff. This was brought up in this meeting but the discussion was stopped as it should be had by the City Council.
