ILLINOIS STATE HOUSE DISTRICT 90: Rep. Demmer Reminds Area Residents of the 2020 Open Enrollment Period for Purchasing Health Insurance

90

Illinois State House District 90 issued the following announcement on Nov. 20.

State Representative Tom Demmer (R-Dixon) is reminding residents that the 2020 Open Enrollment Period for purchasing health insurance coverage through the State exchange is currently open through December 15, 2019.

“We’re a few weeks away from the end of the 2020 Open Enrollment Period for purchasing health insurance plans,” said Rep. Demmer. “If you are looking for alternative health insurance plans or would like to see if you qualify for less expensive coverage, please take some time to research the options available. There are many state and federal websites and resources which can help you navigate the process.”

Get Covered Illinois, the State’s official health marketplace, has helpful tools and resources to help you navigate your insurance options. Visit getcovered.illinois.gov for more information. To see if you qualify for health insurance savings through the State exchange, visit healthcare.gov/lower-costs. For questions about insurance plans purchased through the State exchange, call (800) 318-2596. Questions concerning Medicaid can be addressed by calling the Department of Human Services Customer Help Line at (800) 843-6154.

Medicare is a federally-administered program separate from Get Covered Illinois. The 2020 Open Enrollment Period for Medicare runs through December 7, 2019. For questions concerning Medicare, please call 1-800-633-4227 or visit medicare.gov for more information.

Rep. Demmer is committed to expanding insurance coverage and lowering the cost of prescription drugs. Earlier this year, Demmer supported Senate Bill 162, which expands access to breast cancer screenings, and House Bill 465, which places new rules on drug companies, known as Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBMs), in an effort to make prescriptions more affordable at local pharmacies.

“Reducing the cost of health care and expanding insurance coverage are top priorities of mine,” Demmer continued. “The use of market-based solutions, like increasing price transparency and making programs more efficient, will improve health care outcomes while lowering the cost of care. I look forward to our continued work to improve the lives and health of Illinois residents.”

If you have general questions about State health insurance coverage or any other legislative issue, please contact Rep. Demmer’s office at (815) 561-3690.
