City of Dixon Zoning Board of Appeals met Oct. 24.

The Dixon Zoning Board of Appeals meeting was called to order by Commissioner Smith on October 24, 2019 at 4:32 pm in the Council Chambers of City Hall, 121 W Second Street.
Roll call - Commissioners present: Higby, Hvarre, Gorman, Nelson, Smith, and Whitcombe. Commissioners absent: Ames, Chairman Mezo. Guest: Joe Bay, Code Enforcement Officer.
A motion was made by Commissioner Higby and seconded by Commissioner Hvarre to approve the minutes of the September 26, 2019 meeting. All voted Yea, motion carried.
There was no old business discussed.
PETITION FOR VARIANCE
1504 S. Galena Avenue
Petitioner: John Lawrence and Rhawn Boesen
BadAzz Pizzeria-n-Grill LLC
Commissioner Smith stated that the petition in front of the Commission was for a sign variance for John Lawrence and Rhawn Boesen, BadAzz Pizzeria-N-Grill LLC. The proposed amendment would permit BadAzz Pizzeria-N-Grill LLC to place two 10’ X 15’ lighted business signs on top of their building on the antenna foundation that is presently on the building. Code Enforcer Bay confirmed that no roof top signs could be placed without a variance. Size is not an issue. The Commissioners discussed the illumination and it was noted that the sign faces Keul Road and no illumination points towards homes. No concerns or objections were voiced by the commission. A motion was made by Commissioner Hvarre and seconded by Commissioner Nelson to approve the sign variance for the property located at 1504 S. Galena Avenue, Dixon, IL. Voting Yea: Higby, Hvarre, Gorman, Nelson, Smith, Whitcombe. Voting Nay: None. Motion carried.
As there was no further business to discuss, Commissioner Smith called for a motion to adjourn. A motion was made by Commissioner Hvarre and seconded by Commissioner Higby to adjourn the meeting. Commissioner Smith declared the meeting adjourned at 4:38 pm
