Illinois State House District 74 issued the following announcement on Dec. 19
State Representative Dan Swanson announced that he has been appointed to the Lyme Disease Task Force by House Republican Leader Jim Durkin.
“Getting the word out about Lyme Disease, and its sometimes-complicated diagnosis and treatment, has been of critical importance to me on behalf of the patients I represent in the 74th District,” said State Representative Dan Swanson.
Swanson has been a strong advocate for patients suffering from tick-borne illnesses and led the successful charge this Spring to mandate insurance coverage for long-term antibiotic therapy for a person with a tick-borne disease.
Swanson previously passed legislation last year named the “Lauryn Russell Lyme Disease Prevention & Protection Law” —named after a Mercer County Jr. High School student. He also hosted a “Tick Talk 101” educational event with Spotlight on Lyme QCA last Fall in Woodhull. Swanson said he plans to host additional, similar outreach events in 2020 at other locations in the 74th District.
