Illinois State Senate District 36 issued the following announcement on May 20.

As the Joint Committee on Administrative Rules (JCAR) prepared to meet at the Illinois State Capitol today to vote on Governor J.B. Pritzker’s controversial administrative rule that would allow businesses to be charged with a Class A misdemeanor for violating the stay-at-home order, the Pritzker administration abruptly withdrew the rule that has faced a great deal of public backlash since it was introduced on Friday.

Senator Neil Anderson offered the following response to action:

“This is a huge victory for the people of the state of Illinois. This is proof that when we speak up and call out governmental overreach for what it is, we can effect change,” said Anderson. “I’m proud to be part of a caucus that sounded the alarm on this and stood up for small businesses and employers in our state. Now, we must focus that energy on re-opening the state of Illinois.”
