City of Morrison Historic Preservation Commission met Sept. 1.
Here is the minutes provided by the commission:
Chairman Pro Tem Bill Shirk called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. Public Works Director Lori Matlack King recorded the minutes until Executive Secretary Barb King arrived.
Commission Members present were Lynn Kenady, Jon Gentz and Bill Shirk. Charidy Drawz joined the meeting remotely.
Other City Officials present were Public Works Director Matlack. City Administrator Dykhuizen and Alderman Tervelt joined the meeting remotely.
Chairman Pro Tem Shirk asked or any objections to the July 7, 2020 meeting minutes as presented. Hearing none, he declared them approved by unanimous consent.
Public Hearing
A COA was submitted by Morrison Trust for Revitalization for the property located at 101 & 103 W Main Street to install approximately 16 windows on the south end of the building on all 3 floors. Commission member Drawz made a motion to approve the Certificate of Appropriateness for 101 & 103 W Main Street as discussed; seconded by Commission member Gentz. On a roll call vote of 3 ayes (Drawz, Gentz and Kenady) and 0 nays, the motion carried. (Commission member Shirk abstained.)
A COA was submitted by Paul Anderson for the property located at 634 W Lincolnway to construct a molded resin storage shed. Commission member Shirk made a motion to approve the Certificate of Appropriateness for 634 W Lincolnway as discussed; seconded by Commission member Kenady. On a roll call vote of 4 ayes (Drawz, Gentz, Shirk and Kenady) and 0 nays, the motion carried.
A COA was submitted by Marlene Buikema for the property located at 616 Lincolnway Court to install a 4' high garden fence. Commission member Kenady made a motion to approve the Certificate of Appropriateness for 616 Lincolnway Court as discussed; seconded by Commission member Gentz. On a voice vote, the motion carried. On a roll call vote of 4 ayes (Drawz, Gentz, Shirk. and Kenady) and 0 nays, the motion carried.

If any commission member has a suggestion of someone to fill the vacant seat on the board, please contact Mayor Pannier.
New Business

Other Considerations
Commission member Gentz suggested restoring some of the older tombstones in the cemetery. Public Works Director Matlack indicated she, along with the cemetery sexton, attending training on that very topic.
Update on the Lincoln Highway marker - it is still in Jon's backyard. It still needs some work done to it; missing the "penny" that goes on it. Commission members would like to see it get installed by the tourist cabins at the west end of town.
The next regularly scheduled meeting will be October 6, 2020 @ 5:00 p.m.
At approximately 5:27 p.m. commission member Kenady moved to adjourn the meeting and a second was recognized. On a voice vote the motion carried.
