City of Byron City Council met Oct. 21.

CALL TO ORDER – Mayor Rickard called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m.

1. ROLL CALL – Aldermen present: Todd Isaacs, Dan Reilly, Zeke Hobbie, Jessica Nehring, Mike Gyorkos (by phone), Christy Hanlin. Six members present by roll call vote.

Quorum established.

2. IDOT ILLINOIS TRANSPORTATION ENHANCEMENT GRANT (ITEP) – Mayor Rickard read the Public Hearing Notice:

The City of Byron will hold a public hearing at 6:00 pm to provide interested parties an opportunity to express their views on the proposed 2020 Illinois Transportation Enhancement Program grant project. The meeting will be held at Byron City Hall, Council Chambers, 232 W. 2nd St., 2nd floor, Byron IL.

On or about November 1, 2020, the City of Byron intends to apply to the Illinois Department of Transportation for a grant from the Illinois Transportation Enhancement program. This program provides funding for community based projects that expand travel choices and enhance the transportation experience by improving the cultural, historic, aesthetic, and environmental aspects of our transportation infrastructure. These funds are to be used for a community development project that will include: A shared-use path extension along Mill Road west from Glacier Drive to the ShadowWood Subdivision. The total amount of funds to be requested is $1,075,000.00. The City of Byron also proposes to expend $278,000.00 in non-grant funds on the project.

Information related to this project will be available for review prior to the public hearing as of October 14, 2020, at City Hall, located at 232 W. 2nd St, between the hours of 8:00 am and 4:00 pm. These documents will also be available for viewing via the City’s website, www.cityofbyron.com. Interested residents are invited to provide comments regarding this issue either at the public hearing or by written statement. Written comments should be submitted to Caryn Huber, City Clerk, at chuber@es-il.org. no later than October 20, 2020, in order to ensure placement of such comments in the official record of the public hearing proceedings.
