With 88 percent support, the LaSalle County Republican Central Committee passed a resolution censuring Rep. Adam Kinzinger for being one of the ten Republicans who voted to impeach former President Donald Trump.
The Illinois Republican organization is condemning the congressman “for acting contrary to the values” of LaSalle County Republicans, Chairman Larry Smith said. Additionally, the Republicans have been upset that they have not received any engagement from Kinzinger in over six years. Yet, the congressman has time to voice out anti-Trump issues on national media platforms.
In a statement, Smith said that they “have received hundreds upon hundreds of emails, text messages, and phone calls" from their county and "beyond expressing their frustration and a lot more with Congressman Kinzinger’s actions and statements in the past few months. Many have been very direct that their support for the Republican Party is over if Congressman Kinzinger’s behavior isn’t addressed.”
LaSalle County is one of the counties that Kinzinger represents in his 16th Congressional District.
Kinzinger has earlier said in his press statement that former “President of the United States broke his oath of office and incited this insurrection. He used his position in the Executive to attack the Legislative.”
