Illinois state senators came together last week to thank their support staff for all their hard work on Administrative Professionals Day, including Sen. Win Stoller (R-Peoria).
In the April 21 video shared by the Illinois Senate Republican Caucus, Stoller acknowledged the work of his district office and those working behind the scenes in Springfield.
"I want to thank Dixie Zietlow in my district office and Denise Brown here in Springfield for all that they do," Stoller said. "They have great passion, energy and terrific attitudes that really help me do the job here in Springfield. I so appreciate both of you. Thank you so much."
Besides extending thanks to his administrative help, Stoller has been in the news recently for his concern about the remapping process, which occurs once a decade and has state lawmakers locked in boiling debate about who should draw the new borders.
Stoller urged others at a redistricting committee to wait for the official U.S. Census data this fall rather than pushing the maps be done by the June 30 deadline.
“The census data has been delayed and I understand that's the gold standard and best data that we'd have but are you concerned that the map might be drawn without having that data?” Stoller asked according to a March 23 Illinois Valley Times article. “There is a June 30 deadline that would allow the majority party to draw the map.”
The U.S. has been celebrating Administrative Professionals Day in some shape or form since World War II.
The first National Secretaries Day was organized in 1952. Over the years, the name changed to Professional Secretaries Day. In 2000, the International Association of Administrative Professionals announced that name would be changed to Administrative Professionals Day.
