Veteran state Rep. Tony McCombie (R-Savanna) hasn’t changed her position on Senate Bill 568, an overhaul of the Firearm Owners Identification Card (FOID) act.

“This is still a bad bill; it’s still a gun grab; vote no,” McCombie said of the measure that would require FOID holders to submit to fingerprinting and pay higher fees for receiving their FOID cards as part of an effort to decrease the number of firearms on the streets.

McCombie has long blasted the legislation as containing “anti-gun language” that “will not stop the rise of violence.”

Talking about the bill earlier this month, she said, "This bill is just another bill that was done without collaboration," McCombie said. "It takes another hit on our constitutional rights and our freedoms. I urge a no vote."

Lawmakers and gun owners have been complaining that FOID card processing delays have become unacceptably long.
