Field Events Keep Scotties On Track

The Men's and Women's Track and Field teams competed in the Southwest Baptist Invite April 1st and 2nd.

On the Men's side, Yarno Zuccoli earned 5th in the javelin with a throw of 59.39 meters. Chris Brown earned 3rd in shot put 15.93 meters. Tyrease Dutton-Bicalho hit a personal record in the triple jump where he received 5th place and jumped 13.33 meters. On the women side, two Scotties placed in the shot put event with Shakera Williams earning 4th with a throw of 13.01 meters and Jasmine James earning 5th respectively in the shot put with a best of 12.67 meters.

On April 6th, Tevaughn Tate qualified for nationals in the javelin with a throw of 55 meters while competing at the KT Woodman Classic, held at Wichita State University in Wichita, KS.

The Men's and Women's Track and Field teams also competed in Pittsburgh, KS 14th Annual David Suenram Gorilla Classic on Saturday, April 9th.

The Scottie Men had multiple athletes score and place on Saturday. For the field events, Chris Brown brought home 4th place in shot while also adding a 7th place finish in discus. Liam Jones finished 6th in the steeple chase scoring for the Scotties, while Steve Hines landed a strong 4th place finish n 800 m with a national qualifying time of 1:54.40.

On the Scottie Women's side, Santornya Ralliford won the discus while simultaneously setting a new HCC school record, with a throw of 48.42 meters. Dayjahney Hibbert tied for 4th in high jump with a finish of 1.61 meters. And for the second week in a row, Shakera Williams placed earning herself 5th place in the shot put.

Coach Bingesser commented that he was proud of the team's overall performance. "Any time an athlete can get first place and also break a school record, it is a big achievement for the individual and the team!"

The Scotties will travel to El Dorado, KS for the Grizzly Classic on Saturday, April 16.
