In a June 1 Facebook post, Sen. Win Stoller (R-Peoria) talked about what's going on in Geneseo and Henry County.
“It's always good to sit down with Zack Sullivan at the Geneseo Chamber of Commerce and hear what legislative issues are important to northwestern Henry County. Also, the Chamber is a great source of local event information and supports a community calendar featuring a variety of activities including Geneseo Shoot the Loop, described on their site as one of the best monthly small town car cruise events in the Midwest. Thanks, Geneseo Chamber, for all you do!” Stoller posted.
The Geneseo Shoot the Loop will be held July 9, Aug. 13, and Sept. 3 from 5 to 8 p.m. The cruises feature food trucks, live music, DJ’s, and classic cars.
Geneseo Shoot the Loop events started as a way to support local small businesses during the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. The cruises prompted curb-side and carry out sales for small retail shops and restaurants while customers weren't permitted to enter stores.
In May, Stoller toured Geneseo's park facilities. “I recently had an opportunity to take a tour of the Geneseo Park District's wonderful facilities,” Stoller posted on Facebook. “Thank you to Executive Director Andy Thurman for showing me around.”
He also honored hospital workers in May. In a May 13 Facebook post, Stoller shared a little about his time visiting Hammond-Henry Hospital, commemorating National Hospital Week. "I truly enjoyed being able to celebrate National Hospital Week with the Health Care Team at Hammond-Henry Hospital. To all health care workers, thank you for everything that you do!" Stoller posted.
