Rep. Tony McCombie gives a shoutout to 1st Gateway Credit Union for being their sponsor.

In an Aug. 29 Facebook post, McCombie shared her travels to Fulton and Morrison to wrap up the summer reading program.

“Today we delivered some McComBEE Buzz Reading Certificates to schools in Fulton and Morrison!" McCombie said. "#districttravels I would like to give a huge SHOUT OUT to 1st Gateway Credit Union for being one of our sponsors! #kindness #passiton Each kiddo gets a certificate, a pencil, and a Dairy Queen gift certificate! #readers"

Tony McCombie was elected to represent the individuals living in the 71st District in 2016. She is a lifelong resident of Savanna, Ill., and earned a Bachelor of Arts from Western Illinois University. She owns and operates Blue Appraisals and is a real estate broker with MelFoster Company. Her previous political experience includes time as the mayor of Savanna, Ill., and as a councilor on the Savanna City Council.

This was McCombie's sixth summer reading program. She officially announced it in late April. Participants needed to read eight or more books to qualify for the summer prize.

In early August, McCombie asked federal legislators to vote against the Inflation Reduction Act.

"Rep. Cheri Bustos please hear the IL Farm Bureau and vote NO on this bill!" McCombie said in the post. "I know your views have changed since you were originally elected, but you were supported by the Farm Bureau and I hope that is because you will side with the district that elected you!"
