Republican State Rep. and state treasurer candidate Tom Demmer commemorated his various weekend activities in his community in a Facebook post published on Saturday.

"It was a beautiful Saturday to spend with folks in Elk Grove Village, Palatine, Schaumburg and Bloomingdale," the post read. "I was glad to knock on doors to support Rep. Chris Bos, to celebrate the start of Diwali and to stand with Ukrainians in a prayer for peace."

In September, Demmer also visited Chicago's Little Village neighborhood, also known as the "Mexico of the Midwest," to experience the community's Mexican Independence Day parade.

"A little rain can’t stop us! I was glad to join a huge crowd for the Mexican Independence Day parade in Little Village," Demmer said in a Facebook post published on Sept. 17.

Demmer is also set to appear alongside other Illinois GOP figures such as U.S. Senate candidate Kathy Salvi and state comptroller candidate Shannon Teresi at the Schaumburg Township Republican Organization breakfast forum on Oct. 29, the Daily Herald reported.

In August, Demmer appeared on the Bishop on Air radio program to discuss his decision to run for state treasurer, Illinois Valley Times reported.

"In the last seven years or so, I've been the chief budget negotiator for the House Republicans and spent an inordinate amount of time working on state fiscal issues and having that familiarity, but also understanding how some of the arguments are made, how people sometimes cast finances in a certain light in order to suit a political outcome and we're certainly seeing that with the governor, at one time saying the state's finances 'we must pass this tax or we'll never survive' and now painting a very rosy picture as he seeks reelection," Demmer said. "So I think you need to be able to see through some of those arguments and be able to present a little bit more of a fact-based approach and, you know, that's what I've been working to do in the legislature, that's what I do as state treasurer."
