Corrine Zimmerman, Manager of the Emergency Department, is now a member of an elite group. She is now certified SANE-A (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner- Adult/Adolescent). Corrine is just the 1,626th nurse worldwide to obtain this certification. SANE-A is an international certification through the International Association of Forensic Nurses (IAFN).
“Corinne has been very passionate about this topic and has worked diligently to obtain this status,” said Laura Sawlsville, Director of the Emergency Department. “Her kind heart and compassion for this population, coupled with her clinical excellence, makes her perfect for this role. We are so proud of her accomplishment.”
Corinne is the SANE Coordinator here at KSB and is active on the Lee County SART team (Sexual Assault Response Team). Corinne has mentored other KSB nurses in this field, and it is her desire to have a robust plan in place here at KSB ahead of the impending legal requirement changes. She was recently invited to be a member of the Strangulation Task Force in Ogle County.
“We are fortunate to have her,” said Laura. “She continues to grow and network throughout the region with the support of our Chief Nursing Officer, Linda Clemen, who has a background in this area and a passion for bringing progressive evidence-based care to our patients and community.”
“Corrine’s dedication and passion have helped establish KSB as the region’s leader in this effort,” added Linda. “A lot of work has gone on behind the scenes for the past 2-3 years to be ready for these changes. Please join us in congratulating Corrine on this accomplishment.”
