City of Polo City Council met Feb. 6.
Here are the minutes provided by the council:
1. Invocation.
2. Pledge of Allegiance.
3. Call to order- Mayor Knapp called the meeting to order.
4. Mayor Knapp called roll call and the following members of the Council answered present: Alderman Busser, Alderman Keith Chesnut, Alderman Joseph Kochsmeier, Alderwoman Beth Sundman, and Alderman Randy Schoon.
Absent: Alderman Thomas Bardell.
5. Motion to approve the Consent Agenda
Motion made by Alderman Schoon, second by Alderman Chesnut to approve the following items on the Consent Agenda:
A. Minutes from the January 16, 2023 Council Meeting as amended.
Motion carried 5-0. Yes- Busser, Chesnut, Kochsmeier, Sundman, Schoon.
6. Mayor Knapp opened Public Comment and the following persons provided comments: Members of the public are welcome to speak at this time but are limited to only 3 minutes.
7. Committee Reports

➢ Alderwoman Sundman- The new City website and TextMyGov are up and running. Both look great!

➢ Police Chief Troy Randall- Our cadets are on week 5 of the academy and everything is going well.

A. Consideration & Possible Action on the fire department’s parking lot storm sewer pipe.
Alderman Schoon had been approached by Charlie Clothier. He wanted to know why we were not fixing the water problem behind Franklin Street. The problem starts behind the fire department parking lot. The pipes are collapsed and it will not allow water to go anywhere. That water will destroy all of the new work we are about to do this year. Randy received an email from Matt Hansen this evening. He has several questions about the email he received. He would like to get his questions answered before bringing the prices of the options to the council. Randy will talk to Matt Hansen and will bring that information to the next council meeting.
B. Consideration & Possible Action on repairs for the Galena Trail Bridge.
Alderman Schoon made a motion to supplement the original bid of $27,000 to not exceed $35,000 for the emergency bridge repair, seconded by Alderman Chesnut. Motion carried 5-0. Yes- Busser, Chesnut, Kochsmeier, Sundman, Schoon.
C. Consideration & Possible Action on Resolution 23-04, a resolution of the City of Polo in support of Ogle County Development Corporation.
Alderman Busser made a motion to approve resolution 23-04, seconded by Alderman Schoon. Motion carried 5-0. Yes- Chesnut, Kochsmeier, Sundman, Schoon, Busser.
D. Consideration & Possible Action on Mayor Knapp’s appointment for the park board vacancy. Mayor Knapp is appointing Justin Grobe for the park board vacancy.
Alderman Busser made a motion to accept Mayor Knapp’s appointment, seconded by Alderman Schoon. Motion carried 5-0. Yes- Kochsmeier, Sundman, Schoon, Busser, Chesnut.

11. Other Items for Discussion & Information
Attorney Tom Suits had a court day with Mr. Farraj. Mr. Farraj failed to file an answer and appearance. Due to that they were given a new court date. They were in court last week, Mr. Farraj had filed his appearance but did not file his answer. Attorney Suits filed a motion for default. Mr. Farraj has until February 22nd to file his answer.
