State Senator Andrew Chesney (R-Freeport) recently conducted a survey in the 45th Senate District, and the results clearly indicate that the constituents in the district want their conservative and traditional values to be represented in Springfield's policy discussions.

Chesney emphasized the importance of staying connected with his constituency and ensuring that his votes align with their desires. He stated, "I survey my constituency regularly to ensure my votes at the Capitol align with those who sent me there to take votes on their behalf."

The survey reached out to a diverse range of individuals, regardless of their political affiliation. Chesney explained, "This survey was sent without regard for political affiliation. Republicans, Democrats, and Independents all received it, and they all had an opportunity to respond via the paper version or through an online version of the survey."

One of the key findings of the survey was the overwhelming disapproval of the decision by Governor JB Pritzker and his Democrat allies to provide free healthcare to non-citizens. A staggering 81% of the survey respondents expressed their opposition to free healthcare for illegal immigrants.

Furthermore, the survey revealed a significant disapproval of the elimination of cash bail in the Illinois court system, with 80% of the respondents expressing their disagreement with this change within the criminal justice system. Additionally, around 65% of the survey takers expressed their disapproval of the "assault weapons" ban, while over 75% agreed that people should use the restroom and other facilities according to the sex assigned to them at birth.

Senator Chesney made it clear that he stands firmly against these measures and will continue to fight against them in the General Assembly. He stated, "I voted against every one of these measures in the General Assembly, and will continue to try to reverse these bad policy decisions."

As the 2024 session approaches, Senator Chesney aims to be a leading voice in removing financial support and other incentives that make Illinois a desirable location for migrants and illegal immigrants.

The survey results, as of January 18, clearly demonstrate the desire of the constituents in the 45th Senate District for their traditional conservative values to be upheld in policy discussions. Senator Chesney's commitment to representing these values is evident in his opposition to measures such as free healthcare for non-citizens, the elimination of cash bail, and the "assault weapons" ban.
