House Minority Leader Tony McCombie successfully launched a "Women in Agriculture" advisory group, convening over a dozen women from her legislative district to discuss relevant legislative updates and network with like-minded individuals. The inaugural meeting served as an introduction for members within the group and provided an opportunity for Leader McCombie to address issues pertinent to the agriculture industry.

"This meeting was a great introduction to a coalition that I have wanted to start for some time–to bring women together, celebrate their impact to agriculture and be a resource for each other," stated Leader McCombie, emphasizing the importance of uniting women in agriculture to better understand legislation and programs that support Illinois' economy.

Illinois Department of Agriculture Director Jerry Costello expressed his support for initiatives that aim to involve more women in the agricultural sector, highlighting the importance of technological advancements and recruitment efforts. "Continued bipartisan efforts to expand opportunities for women in agriculture are critical and have our full support," Director Jerry Costello II affirmed.

Moving forward, McCombie's group plans to meet quarterly and feature guest speakers to provide additional resources and insights to women in agriculture. Residents interested in joining the advisory group can reach out to Leader McCombie's District Office for more information.
