House Minority Leader Tony McCombie has officially launched her 8th Annual Summer Reading Club for elementary school students in the 89th District. The program, titled "Reading BUZZ", is designed to encourage students to develop or maintain positive reading habits.

"I am excited to again offer a summer reading program to encourage and challenge students to keep up their reading while away from school," said McCombie. "Summer break is fun, but it can also be a great time to learn and connect with family and friends over stories you read, and I encourage students to participate this year!"

The Reading BUZZ program challenges elementary school students to read eight books before July 15th. Sign-up sheets for the summer reading program have been distributed to schools and local libraries, with an electronic copy also available online. Participation in this program can coincide with any other summer reading programs offered through area libraries, schools, or other organizations.

Participants will receive a special treat as a reward for their reading efforts and will also receive a certificate from the Illinois House of Representatives. To participate, a parent or guardian must complete and sign the form and return it to Rep. McCombie’s office by July 15th at 9317B IL Rt 84, Savanna, IL 61074.

For any queries regarding the program, individuals can contact Representative McCombie’s district office at 815-291-8989.
