This week, House Minority Leader Tony McCombie engaged with constituents and local officials in the 89th District. She attended a town hall event hosted by the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and served as Principal for the Day at a local school.

House Minority Leader McCombie routinely holds traveling office hours throughout northwest Illinois to ensure constituents receive necessary state services and support. This week's office hours were held in Oregon, with more dates to be announced soon.

The DNR has been hosting town hall events across northern Illinois to address concerns about Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD), a fatal neurological illness affecting deer. CWD has impacted the 89th District, prompting Leader McCombie to encourage more input from residents, hunters, and state agency leaders. Information on upcoming town halls can be found on the DNR’s website.

Leader McCombie participated in the Principal for the Day program at Kings School, where she visited classes, read to students, discussed her legislative role, and made morning announcements. The program was initiated by the Illinois Principals Association to involve lawmakers in schools.

Additionally, Leader McCombie met with local mayors this week to provide a legislative update and hear their concerns about local issues. She also attended a ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating new ownership at Poopy’s bar in Savanna, known as Illinois' largest biker destination.
