National Farmer’s Day is observed to honor the individuals who contribute significantly to feeding and fueling the world. According to the Illinois Farm Bureau, agriculture and related industries provide employment for over 482,000 people in Illinois. Of the 72,200 farms in the state, a substantial 97% are family-owned.

Illinois holds prominent positions in agricultural production nationwide. The state ranks first in soybean production, second in corn production, and fourth in pork production. Furthermore, with 2,640 food manufacturing companies, Illinois leads the nation with $180 billion in processed food sales.

House Minority Leader Tony McCombie expressed appreciation for farmers across Illinois on this day. "Today," he stated, "House Minority Leader Tony McCombie is celebrating all the farmers across Illinois for their dedication to ensuring our nation has access to fresh and nutritious food."
