House Minority Leader Tony McCombie recently organized a law enforcement luncheon in the 89th District. The event gathered local lawmakers, sheriffs, chiefs, and state police from northwest Illinois to discuss public safety issues.

During the meeting, McCombie provided updates on legislative matters affecting law enforcement and encouraged attendees to contact her office about relevant legislative concerns. Law enforcement officials shared their daily challenges and expressed growing concerns about public safety.

The event included participation from former state lawmaker Brian Stewart and State Representatives John Cabello (Machesney Park), Jeff Keicher (Sycamore), Bradley Fritts (Dixon), Joe Sosnowski (Rockford), as well as State Senator Andrew Chesney (Freeport).

McCombie emphasized her ongoing advocacy for improved public safety in the Illinois House. She has been actively involved in working groups aimed at refining the SAFE-T Act, which has been amended four times since its initial passage. Her efforts involve collaborating with House Republicans and public safety experts to enhance the legislation while supporting law enforcement.

This annual event is part of a broader initiative by House Republicans to maintain open dialogue with law enforcement across Illinois. "I am proud to continue to host this event and keep bringing law enforcement and lawmakers together," said McCombie. "Each discussion we have is a step forward to improving our state."
