The Illinois legislative session is set to begin in January, following the conclusion of the veto session in the House. Lawmakers will return for a lame duck session, which has faced opposition from House Republicans. Leader McCombie expressed disapproval, stating: “We do not need more time for out-of-touch Democrats to dream up harmful legislation. We need bipartisan legislation that focuses on the issues Illinois families care about most."

In other news, an appeals court has decided to keep Illinois' gun and magazine ban in place as legal proceedings continue. Leader McCombie commented: “I stand firmly with the law-abiding gun owners of Illinois who responsibly exercise their Second Amendment rights." She added that while the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals allowed the ban to remain, she believes this is not a solution for community safety.

The Illinois Department of Natural Resources reported 54,661 tagged deer during the first weekend of firearm deer season, marking an increase from last year. Randolph County led with 1,565 deer tagged.

The Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (DFPR) announced progress on modernizing its professional licensing system after pressure from House Republicans. The DFPR's new Comprehensive Online Regulatory Environment (CORE) aims to streamline licensure processes and improve efficiency.

Upcoming events include a Savanna Community Blood Drive and a Holiday Diaper Drive in partnership with State Representative Ryan Spain. Leader McCombie will also host office hours on December 19th in Mt. Morris and Forreston.
