FOIA Request to Stephenson County Sheriff Regarding 2024 Arrest Records on January 7, 2025.
As part of our ongoing commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at NW Illinois News have sent a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the Stephenson County Sheriff's office. The request, sent on January 7, 2025, seeks access to all arrest records from the year 2024.
The requested records specifically include a list of all arrests made from January 1, 2024, through December 31, 2024. We have asked for details such as the arrestee's name, date of arrest, gender, race, date of birth and the crime committed.
As a media organization dedicated to transparency and holding public institutions accountable, we believe that access to these public records is essential in fulfilling our professional responsibilities. Given our role in disseminating information to the public, we have also requested a fee waiver as a media professional under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act.
We await a response from the Stephenson County Sheriff's office and will continue to keep our readers informed about local governmental affairs.
