City of Galena City Council met Dec. 18.

24C-0499 – CALL TO ORDER

Mayor Renner called the regular meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. in the Board Chambers at 101 Green Street on 23 December 2024.

24C-0500 – ROLL CALL

Upon roll call, the following members were present: Johnson, Kieffer, Tegtmeyer, Westemeier, Wienen, Renner

24C-04501 – ESTABLISHMENT OF QUORUM

Mayor Renner announced a quorum of board members present to conduct City business.

24C-0502 – PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

The Pledge was recited.

24C-0503 - REPORTS OF STANDING COMMITTEES

No reports.

24C-0505 – APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING OF DECEMBER 9, 2024

24C-0506 – ACCEPTANCE OF THE NOVEMBER 2024 FINANCIAL REPORT

24C-0507 – APPROVAL OF BUDGET AMENDMENT BA24-10 FOR PICKLEBALL COURTS DESIGN COSTS

Motion: Wienen moved, seconded by Johnson, to approve Consent Agenda CA24-24.

NEW BUSINESS

24C-0508 – MONTHLY WATER AND SEWER OPERATIONS AND MAINTENANCE REPORT

FROM U.S. WATER

Andrew went over the Monthly Operations Report. He stated that we have found a significant area of loss that is currently accounted for. The unaccounted for is at 16%, which is amazing, and we are hoping it stays that way. Thanks to a team effort to find the issues.

24C-0509 – WARRANTS

Motion: Kieffer moved, seconded by Tegtmeyer, to approve the Warrants as presented, 24C0509.

24C-0510 – ALDERPERSONS’ COMMENTS

Westemeier -Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. 2024 was a great year for the city and he hopes the citizens realize it.

Wienen- Thanks to all those involved in the coordination of the December events.

Kieffer - Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Johnson - Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Tegtmeyer – A constituent stopped her about the missing engine break signs on Highway 20 and other items she needs to talk to Mark about. She will follow up when Mark is back. It was a bummer that the luminaria was cancelled, but the windows were nice. Happy Holiday’s.

24C-0512 – MAYOR’S REPORT

Mayor extended a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to board members. He thanked all the city boards for all they do.
