House Minority Leader Tony McCombie and her leadership team have issued a statement addressing Governor JB Pritzker's remarks on President Donald Trump's migrant strategy. The statement criticizes the governor for allegedly misleading the public.
"Governor Pritzker is once again misleading Illinoisans," said McCombie. She argued that current deportation efforts already focus on removing illegal immigrants who have committed crimes. McCombie expressed disappointment over what she described as the governor's attempt to distort facts for political gain.
The statement emphasized a shared desire for safe communities and highlighted the importance of enforcing laws against those who violate them. "We all want to live in safe communities, free of crime, and enforcing the law against those who break it is common sense," McCombie stated.
McCombie called for a shift from fearmongering to finding solutions that protect law-abiding citizens while ensuring justice is served. "Instead of fearmongering, let’s focus on solutions that protect law-abiding citizens and ensure justice is served," she concluded.
