H-1B Insights: Employers classified under Health Care and Social Assistance industry file 11 petitions in NW Illinois News publication area throughout 2024

Employers classified under the Health Care and Social Assistance industry based within the NW Illinois News publication area, submitted 11 H-1B petitions during 2024, according to data provided by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services via the H-1B Employer Data Hub. Of these, nine were approved (81.8%), while two were denied (18.2%).

Locally, employers across all industries located within the NW Illinois News publication area submitted 40 petitions during the same period, achieving an approval rate of 95%.

The Professional, Scientific, and Technical Services industry led the H-1B filings in the NW Illinois News publication area during 2024, with 13 petitions (32.5% of all submissions), and an approval rate of 100%.

Despite this, family sponsorship remains the most common path to permanent residency, accounting for 63% of green cards issued in 2023.
