State Representative Bradley J. Fritts recently shared updates on legislative activities and community events in his latest e-newsletter. The newsletter covers a range of topics, including reactions to Governor JB Pritzker's State of the State and Budget Address, the conviction of former Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan, and local community outreach efforts.

In response to Governor Pritzker's address, Rep. Fritts criticized it as "political theater filled with partisan rhetoric, empty promises, and a bizarre hyper-focus on national politics." He highlighted concerns about Illinois' $425 million deficit and rising crime rates. Fritts accused the governor of failing to manage the state's budget effectively while citizens face inflation and increasing living costs. He stated, "It’s long overdue for the majority party to start making budget cuts the same way hardworking Illinoisans have been forced to do for years."

Rep. Fritts also expressed disapproval over remarks made by Governor Pritzker that likened Republicans to Nazis, describing them as part of ongoing rhetoric from the majority party in Illinois. He suggested that Governor Pritzker is using his position to promote personal political ambitions: "The budget address today makes one thing abundantly clear: JB Pritzker is running for President."

On February 12th, former House Speaker Michael Madigan was found guilty on charges including conspiracy, bribery, and wire fraud. Rep. Fritts called this verdict a victory for justice in Illinois and emphasized the need for ethics reform within state government. He urged Speaker Chris Welch to advance pending bills aimed at addressing corruption: "Illinois deserves better!"

Rep. Fritts also highlighted various community engagements such as Sauk Valley CPR joining Discover Dixon as an investor and attending a legislative breakfast hosted by the Illinois Association of Park Districts with State Senator Li Arellano Jr.

He announced a new 'Community Calendar' on his official website designed to streamline access to information about local events. This initiative aims to help constituents find ways to support their communities.

For more updates or information about upcoming legislation or events in District 74, constituents are encouraged to visit Rep. Fritts' website or follow him on Facebook.
