State Senator Andrew S. Chesney | Illinois General Assembly
State Senator Andrew Chesney has taken steps to seek closure for families affected by the death of Jackson Kradle in July 2024. The senator has formally requested that the State’s Attorneys Appellate Prosecutor (ILSAAP) review the case and provide a public update on its progress.
The incident occurred on July 28, 2024, when the body of 18-year-old Jackson Kradle was discovered on IL Route 78 near Lowden Road in Carroll County. On learning about potential involvement by employees of the Carroll County Sheriff’s Department, Sheriff Ryan Kloepping recused himself to avoid any conflict of interest. The investigation was subsequently transferred from the local State’s Attorney, who also recused himself, to ILSAAP. A coroner's inquest later ruled Kradle's death as a homicide on January 14, 2025.
Senator Chesney stated, “I understand the burden of heavy caseloads faced by the ILSAAP,” emphasizing that "the families involved and the broader community are still waiting for an update." He expressed hope for progress toward closure and requested Director Patrick Delfino and his team at ILSAAP to review evidence, decide on potential charges, and inform the public about future actions.
A letter sent to Director Delfino outlining this request is available for public viewing.
