State Senator Andrew Chesney, representing Freeport, is organizing an event in Oregon on March 10 to assist motorists in transitioning from plastic IPASS transponders to the new sticker technology. The initiative is part of a broader effort by the Illinois Tollway to phase out traditional transponders.
"The Tollway is phasing out the plastic transponders we have in our cars and replacing them with stickers," said Chesney. "Traditional transponders will continue to work for the time being, but these events allow people to make the switch quickly and conveniently and without any disruption to their IPASS account or activity."
The event, named IPASS on Demand, will take place at Nash Recreation Center's River Room within the Oregon Park District from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Oregon Mayor Ken Williams will co-host alongside Senator Chesney.
There is no charge for converting to the sticker technology, and existing IPASS balances will be transferred seamlessly. Attendees are advised to bring their current plastic transponder(s) and note down their license plate number.
