State Representative Bradley J. Fritts provided an update on recent legislative activities and community engagements in his latest e-newsletter. Over the past two weeks, several bills have progressed through committees in Springfield.
Among these, House Bill 3148 passed the Consumer Protection Committee unanimously. This bill aims to eliminate additional fees for consumers who opt out of autopay services. House Bill 3233, which addresses slow EMS response times in rural Illinois, received unanimous approval from the Healthcare Availability & Access Committee. Additionally, House Bill 3238 passed with full support from the Transportation: Regulations, Road, and Bridges Committee. This local initiative seeks to offer more flexibility in compensating highway commissioners.
Representative Fritts also addressed concerns regarding the 'Homeschool Act.' The bill mandates annual registration for non-public schools with the Illinois State Board of Education and requires homeschool families to submit a declaration form. Non-compliance could result in fines or imprisonment. "To the families who choose non-public education for their children in the 74th District, I want you to know that I stand beside you in your fight for freedom from government overreach," Fritts stated.
In his March local business spotlight, Fritts highlighted B’lush Salon in Sterling, owned by Janette and Chris Garza. He praised their community involvement and commitment to providing excellent service.
Fritts announced a prescription drop-off drive scheduled for April 12th in collaboration with the Sterling Police Department and Sauk Valley Area Chamber of Commerce. The event will allow residents to safely dispose of unwanted medications.
Community outreach efforts included welcoming Rouse Consulting Group to the Sauk Valley Area Chamber of Commerce and participating in discussions about infrastructure improvements on the Hennepin Canal. Fritts also attended events supporting local farmers and visited elementary schools in Dixon.
Representative Fritts encourages constituents planning visits to Springfield to reach out for meetings during their stay. He emphasized transparency and accountability within government operations.
