Fritts announces internship program, community events, highlights local businesses

State Representative Bradley J. Fritts has announced several initiatives and events in his latest e-newsletter, marking the final month of the spring legislative session. The deadline for Senate Bill committees is this week, with all bills needing to pass committee by Friday to continue through the legislative process.

Representative Fritts has opened applications for his 2025 Summer Internship Program, which will run from June 2nd through August 15th. Interested students are encouraged to apply by May 12th.

A sharps drop-off event is scheduled for May 8th in collaboration with the Lee County Health Department and Dixon YMCA. Additionally, a prescription drug drop-off drive will take place on May 13th at the Mendota Civic Center.

In his April Local Business Spotlight, Fritts highlighted Flight Deck in Rochelle for its community contributions. Owner Ashley Bick has been recognized for her involvement with local organizations and her efforts to keep the business operational during challenging times.

The newsletter also featured Dallas Knack and Dr. Jennifer Hintzsche as part of the Women to Watch Event in Springfield. Both women have made significant contributions to their fields and communities.

Community outreach efforts were noted, including participation in Child Abuse Awareness Month events and celebrating OnCall Imaging's membership with the Mendota Area Chamber of Commerce. The United Way of Lee County Campaign Celebration Luncheon was attended by Fritts' office, recognizing volunteer impact on the community.

Fritts expressed gratitude towards local leaders fighting child abuse and congratulated Rochelle Area Community Foundation on their successful Granting Futures event. He also attended the Illinois Police Officers Memorial's 40th anniversary, honoring fallen officers.

Constituents planning visits to Springfield are encouraged to reach out to Representative Fritts for meetings, emphasizing government transparency and accountability.
